NEW: DESCENT 3 SERVER LIST FOR LINUX
|
November 18, 2004
|
iten has created a new server list program for Linux. Because the Linux version of
Descent 3 cannot be launched directly into a server, it works by copying the ip address
of the selected server and pasting it directly into D3's multiplayer interface. This
should save the average Linux D3 player 20-30 seconds when joining a game!

NEW VORTEX: IN-GAME SERVER LIST ADDED
|
November 9, 2004
|
Vortex version 0.1.8 Alpha was released yesterday. Among many bug fixes and feature
enhancements comes a new feature called Server List Relay. Server list relay allows players
to view the Descent 3 server list from within the TCP/IP menu in Descent 3. This is similar
to the way the default PXO server list used to work.

errors people are and when they try to patch their games. It also solves the problem where Descent 3
does not always recognize the CD in the drive upon starting the game. This patch is compatible with the
US, Euorpean, and Australian distributions of the Descent 3.

VORTEX: THE NEW PXM
|
October 5, 2004
|
Back in 2000, Skorpion (aka Thomas Parth) began work on a combined chat and game list interface for Descent 3.
He released PXM as an alternative to l0m's gate tool. Both programs simply provided an easy-to-use interface
for PXO. Now that PXO is gone, Skorpion has given PXM a facelift and a new name.
The new name is Vortex and Skorpion released a public Alpha version of the tool today. Because it's an
Alpha, there are some bugs and incomplete/missing features. Despite that, this version of Vortex still
has some perks. Never before in the history of Descent 3 have we had a game list tool that supports
Level Autodownloading with link verification. This is critical for newcomers to Descent 3. Vortex also
integrates the descent.cx game list and the official Descent 3 IRC channel.
Vortex is an invaluable contribution to the D3-playing public. Check out the links below for more info:
